On the 20th of December 2016 a woman called Clare gave us a talk about the migrant crisis in Syria and all the refugees. Back in Easter she had gone to Greece. Before she went she raised €4000 to help all the refugees in need. This money bought mattresses, clothes, kettles and much more. Clare’s friend’s daughter gave up €30 of her birthday money to help babies in need. Today the 21st of December and 22nd of December we are raising money for Clare because she is going back to Greece to help again. It was very interesting and thank you to Clare for her talk.

Orla 6th class

On the 20th of December we had a visitor come into our class. Clare was her name. She was fundraising for the refugees in Greece. Clare had been to Greece, and had actually worked at the camps. Clare did a lot of fundraising the last time she went. She was able to buy camping mattresses for the pregnant women, razors for the men, hairbrushes, clothing etc.

One girl gave thirty euro of her birthday money to the refugees. This money went to a child who was celebrating her first birthday. Today we are wearing Christmas jumpers and bringing in money. It was very interesting and we found out the population in Syria was estimated in 2014 was around seventeen million. I was glad to see the refugees were very thankful.
