Parent-guardian book lift

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to thank you all for the on-going cooperation and hard work in relation to the remote learning we are engaged in at present. As you are all aware, schools are not scheduled to reopen until September. It is disappointing for all of us not to be able to see our pupils and oversee their learning as we would wish to, but we will of course continue to follow the advice from the authorities at all times and make the best of the situation as we have been doing all along. Your support and co-operation is greatly appreciated.

Under Department of Education guidelines, teachers are allowed to access school buildings from Monday May 18th . As a staff, we will be using Monday May 18th and Tuesday May 19th to prepare books and material for our pupils. The purpose of this is to send home items children will need to continue their learning between now and the end of June.

These books/materials can be collected by parents, according to timetable, on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st May.

It is very important that parents only come to the school at the time stipulated on the timetable so we can manage the two days safely for everyone.

The following arrangements will apply for the book pick up on Wednesday and Thursday.

  • -Only one parent/guardian should visit the school to collect books.

-No children can visit the school on these days.

-Parking will be available in the bottom car park and the front yard.

-Any parent/guardian who cannot come to the school or needs an alternative time should email lurgybrackns@gmail.com so arrangements can be made.

-All parents/guardians should enter the school via the front door by Bridgetta’s office. Hand sanitiser will be available here and must be used by everyone entering the building. The school cannot provide masks to visitors but the wearing of masks is advisable.

-Book collection points will be in the Crann óg Hall for 6th, 5th and 4th The main hall will be used for 3rd, 2nd, 1st, Senior Infants and Junior Infants.

-If you have more than one child in the school, all books will be grouped with the oldest sibling – i.e. if a child in Jnr. Infants has a big sister in 6th class, that child’s Jnr Infant books will be ready for collection in the Crann Óg hall along with their older sister’s books.

-2m spaces will be marked out on the ground from the front gate all the way to the school door and inside on the corridors towards the Crann ÓG hall and the main hall. PLEASE OBSERVE THIS 2M DISTANCE AT ALL TIMES.

  • -Everyone coming to collect books is advised to bring an umbrella in case you need to queue outside the school for a period of time.

-Once you reach the door of either the Crann Óg hall or the main hall, you will be met by a member of staff who will take the name of the child you are collecting books for. This member of staff will then retrieve the all the books required and leave them on a table by the exit door in the hall. Parents/Guardians are kindly asked to lift the bags of books and proceed straight out the fire exit door of the hall . This way there is one way in and one way out of the building.

The following times will apply for collecting books from the school. NB: Please remember, only one visit per family will be required, all books for families will be grouped with the oldest in family.
