Welcome to the website of St. Patrick’s National School Lurgybrack.
Our school is situated three miles outside Letterkenny on the main Sligo road. There are currently 458 pupils attending the school. The staff is made up of twenty six teachers, nine SNAs, our school secretary and caretaker.
Lurgybrack NS is a happy and welcoming place. All staff and pupils work together in an atmosphere of respect and encouragement. Our school has a purpose built Autism Centre called An Crann Óg where twelve pupils are taught by Ms. Karen Browne and Mrs. Kate Boyle.
Children attending our school are given opportunities to take part in many sporting activities e.g. GAA, soccer, rugby, basketball, athletics, etc. We have football and basketball courts, a hall and plenty of space where pupils can play. As well as sporting activities children take part in quizzes, spelling bees, debates, art competitions and drama events.
Our school has a Roman Catholic ethos under the patronage of Bishop Alan McGuckian of Raphoe. Our ethos encourages respect and acceptance and as such does not tolerate bullying of any kind. The Green Flag programme has been in operation in the school for many years. We have been awarded six Green Flags thus far. Our school was awarded the Active School Flag in 2015 and again in 2019. We have received numerous awards for our Science and Maths work within the school. These awards are recognition of dedication and excellent work which is carried out in our school every day.
We hope to make up-to-date information about all our activities available on our website.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website and please feel free to contact us with any comments, suggestions or questions you may have.
